Sympathy & Funeral Tribute Training Course

What a fun week we have had this week, with only 1 new student who had not been to Kay's School before all the rest of our returning students had lots of tales to tell us of their journey into the flower and floristry world.

Monday morning saw the students creating gorgeous eternal circle funeral wreaths in whites and greens.  In the afternnon they took on the challenge of pleating florist ribbon....  and a challenge it was but by the early afternoon they were flying and pinning it onto their heart based wreaths .Using their own style each student designed and decorated their own Heart Shaped Wreath.

Presentation Hand Tied Bouquet in a Floral Box

A very busy day at Kay's School of Floristry today as students learned the art of butting together a very large Hand Tied Bouquet.  The quickly caught on to the spiraling technique and it wasn't long before the mastered the skill of creating these fabulous bouquets.
The ladies learned how to make an aqua pack bubble of water, assembling the floralbox floral boxes, making organza bows and then just to add a bit of bling they added a brooch to their bouquet.

At Kay's School we only ever use Floralbox Flower boxes as we have found these to be the most sturdy box on the market, with the added protection of the plastic bag interior flowers can be easily placed inside without the fear of them toppling over.   Michael from Floralbox  has a beautiful selection of boxes and you will find the link to his Facebook page here,

AOIFA - Association of Irish Floral Artists National Competition in the Middleton Park Hotel, Co Cork

Kay was delighted to get the opportunity to visit the National Competitions for AOIFA this year in Middleton in Co Cork.  As a Commercial Florist it is such a wonderful experience to see these Artists at work using the flowers & materials we use in the school everyday but on a commercial basis.
Their designs were just amazing and the hours of work that must have went into each piece was evident in the attention to detail in each of the floral designs.

Over the course of the day Kay got chatting with lots of the designers and coincidentally some of them had actually started out as students at  Kay's School of Floristry many many years ago.
