Brooch Bouquets and Heirloom Bouquets Shoot

it was on a fabulous sunny day in September that we gathered in Bushy Park in Terenure, Dublin 6 for to shoot some of our Heirloom and Brooch Bouquets.  With the expert advice from Ger Dunne from Fantastic Photography we looked at some of the different locations around the park and decided on the stepping stones as a good photo opportunity.

Our model above Sinead showed of some of the Brooch Bouquets we have as samples in the school that we use to teach students how they can design their own brooch bouquets. In the first picture Sinead is carrying a heart shaped titanic inspired brooch bouquet designed using over 70 brooches in blue and pearl.
The bottom picture show Sinead carrying a genuine Vintage Heirloom Brooch Bouquet designed by Kay using some very old and antique brooches and scarf pins

On our Brooch Bouquet workshops we train you to make a Brooch Bouquet using all new brooches like the bouquet in the center photo, but once you have acquired the skills to create these bouquets, you can use the skills  to create any type, shape, style old or new bouquet using any type of materials

Bushy Park Brooch Bouquet Harley Davidson Shoot

Team Kay's recently organised a photo shoot in Bushy Park in Dublin to show off Kay's new collection of alternative bridal bouquets.  Organised at the last minute we enlisted the help of the fabulous Make Up Artist tot he stars Tanya Pepper of Elegant Touch Professional Makeup Artist and Celebrity Hair Stylist Lorraine Whelan to prepare our Models for the day ahead.

Once all our girls were ready we all headed over to Bushy Park, thankfully the weather played an enormous part as the sun glowed the whole day.  Yes we spent the whole day in the park and the crack was 90 :)
A friend of Kay's School,  Paul brought along his pride and joy  Harley Davidson Bike and the girls all got a chance to hop on and do some posing

New Flower Arranging Students

We were joined this weekend by 10 lovely new students from all over Ireland who have come to learn how to make money from their love of flowers.
Yesterday saw them arrive all nervous and apprehensive but with guiding from Janette it didn't take them too long to relax and start to enjoy the course.  The started yesterday morning by designing a contemporary arrangement of Iris & Germini and everyone was delighted with their results,

In the afternoon the ladies were guided step by step through a traditional posie arrangement of pink carnations and pink gyp, they were a bit more of a challenge but the results were superb.
All the ladies went home very tired but very excited with their fabulous flower arrangements and looking forward to Day 2 of their flower course.

We will post some more photos later of the arrangements they completed on day 2 :)

Pearl Brooch Bouquet

Our Pearl Brooch Bouquet Kits are by far the most popular Brooch Bouquet Kits being posted all around the world.  We have seen them being designed in many different styles and sizes but it seems that brides are loving the Neutral shades of these Brooch Bouquets.

Pearl & Silver Brooch Bouquet

Recently we had a bride who requested a 12 inch Brooch Bouquet in Pearls & Silver, this proved too big a task for one of our students who asked us to assist her in making it.

The completed Brooch Bouquet was created using 75 Pearl & Silver Brooches.

To get a better idea of the size of this Brooch Bouquet we took a photo of it beside our standard Brides Pearl Brooch Bouquet

Heirloom Brooch Bouquets in Coral

Over the last few weeks Kay has spent most evenings making the small fabric roses used to create her heirloom brooch bouquets,  these were a bespoke order specially designed for a special bride heading off to Italy to get married.
With Coral being the color of the Bridesmaids, Kay went about creating the roses in slightly different shades to give the bouquet definition.
Adding the Pearl Brooches gave them the final touch of bling.

Audrey the bride was thrilled with the finished designs and also with her own very bespoke Bridal Heirloom Brooch Bouquet.
Will post more details about that one when we get more photos

Alternative Bridal Bouquets

Over the past week we have had a lot of interest in our Fabric Rose & Brooch Bouquets, although how to assemble these bouquets is  covered on our 1-2-1 workshops, we do not teach you how to make the fabric roses, we do however  include the links on how to make these roses in your notes.  Kay has them down to a fine art but they are time consuming. It is important to work with a good quality ribbon and if you need to make a specific colour rose you may need to purchase the fabic and sew it up so that it is double sided.  In saying all that the effect is beautiful and lots of brides are turning into these as an alternative to fresh flower bouquets.

The time love and patience that goes into designing these Brooch Bouquets probably will not be reimbursed financially and sometimes it may be easier to design the bouquets using all brooches as although it will cost that bit more it is much less labour intensive.

The Brooch Bouquet above is an example of the type of Brooch Bouquet you would create in our 1-2-1 workshops or when ordering option 1 from our distant learning kits.  This option includes all the brooches you need to create a bouquet similar to this.  We will also send you on all the links on where we source our brooches and also how to make the fabric flowers.
For more information on how to create these Brooch Bouquets visit our website

or drop us an email on info@kaysschool.com or call the school on 00 353 1 453 86 49

all the best for now

Choosing a Brooch Bouquet for your Wedding

Brooch Bouquets were originally created as a sentimental heirloom, created from Brooches, Chains, Pendants, Rings or any Jewels passed on from generations.  Brides included all their sentimental pieces into their bouquet and over the generations this can be added to by others. We have been asked by brides to include lots of differnt memorabilia into their bouquets, broken watches, communion medals, swimming medals, photos of loved ones, fabric from baby blankets or christening robes, what ever we are asked to include we endeavor to include it into the Bridal Bouquet

More often than not brides don't have enough pieces to create their bouquet so we create it with a mix or old and new.
When choosing new brooches it is important to take into account the style of the dress but also the bouquet and what heirloom pieces you will be including.
Chooses a selection of large and smaller pieces as this gives the bouquet more texture and easier to keep in shape.  Check out lots of different suppliers as prices can vary hugely.  When ordering colours online the colour you think you are ordering may not be the shade you do actually receive.
The colour the bride may wish to be included may not be easy to source so give yourself plenty of time.

everlasting bouquet for wedding

Creating Brooch Bouquets for Wedding Parties is one of the most rewarding jobs and Brides are normally over the moon with their finished design.

If you are deciding to order your own brooch Bouquet for your wedding make sure to compare your bouquet Designer, different designers have different styles and some may include less brooches so make sure  when pricing your bouquet ask how many brooches are included in your bouquet.

The pricing structure would normally be €10 per brooch, so a bouquet containing 30 brooches should cost approx €300 but obviously brooch prices vary as do Brooch Bouquet Designers
