Does flower pollen trigger your allergies????

Does flower pollen trigger your allergies????

This can be a genuine fear amongst Brides who do suffer from pollen allergies if they are going to sneeze their way up the aisle as a result of carrying fresh flowers.

Brooch Bouquets may be the answer to their fears.  These Heirloom Brooch Bouquets are becoming more and more popular particularly for those brides who worry about pollen tears on their big day.

Our Brooch Bouquets are designed for each individual bride in a colour or theme that suits their wedding theme.  Brides can include any sentimental pieces or jewels into their bouquet and some have even included fabric from their own mother’s dresses or replicas of their engagement rings.

The idea behind the Heirloom Brooch Bouquet is that it is a keepsake that can be passed down through generations and maybe added to over generations.

At Kay’s School of Floristry we have devised a very cost effective way for Brides to include these bouquets.  Brides to be can come to our school where under the close instruction of out tutors they can design their own memento piece making it all the more special.
How to design your own Brooch Bouquet

Each of our Brooch Bouquets designed at the school contain a minimum of 30 brooches and brides are actively encouraged to bring along any pieces they may wish to be included during the workshop.

Do brides wedding bouquets have to be made from flowers???
Not al all!!!!  Bridal bouquets can be made from absolute anything, and in the last year we have seen brides stepping away from the classic floral bouquet for themselves and choose more unusual types.

Vintage brooch bouquets are becoming more and more popular amongst brides. Brides are using their mothers/grandmothers brooches & jewellery to create a unique design with lots of sentimental and guaranteed not to look like any other brides.

These bouquets can be used as a focal point in any room of their home after the wedding and then be passed through generations as a family heirloom. Brides who may not have Granny’s jewellery can ask their friends on the night of their hen party to each bring along a brooch that symbolises their friendship which can then be incorporated into their bouquet.

Brides have asked for many things to be incorporated into these very personal and unique bouquets by adding lockets with pictures of family who may have passed on, or fabric from their mother’s wedding dress. With these bouquets anything goes as they are unique to every bride.
Some brides just love brooch bouquets for their appeal and wish to only have all new brooches and they want to start of their own piece of remembrance and of course the brooches can be chosen to match a colour scheme as with flowers. Some brides will opt for smaller brooch bouquets for their bridesmaids with keepsakes included to remember their wedding day.

Beginners Bridal Course - Day 2

Day 2 of our Beginners Bridal Floristry Training Course

Everyone decided to come in a little earlier today so we could all finish earlier and make the most of the fantastic weather.
Janette was well ahead of the possy and had been in since 8 getting started on some of the wiring.  Today everyone was going to complete an all wired bridal posy and some will turn them into a teardrop shape.
It was nearly 12 before all the wiring and taping was finished, but you could see how well they were all mastering the technique and were getting faster.
Orchids, Lillies, Roses, Baby Carnations and lisianthus were wired up, some decided to include Gyp in their bouquets.
After morning coffee we all got to work assembling the posy bouquets and then some added the tail piece to create a shower bouquet.

to finish of a very full on busy day they each made up a flower girls wand, which are proving very popular this year particularly with Holy communion Girls.

About Brooch Bouquets

Over the years since Kay's School has been delivering courses we have been asked by students & brides alike what to do if the Bride suffers from allergies and is allergic to flowers ??? and for many years we have been advising artificial silk flowers, well now we are so delighted to be able to offer an alternative in the form of Vintage or Heirloom Brooch Bouquets.  These bouquets are designed from an array of materials, with brooches being probably the most popular.
At Kay's we can now offer a kit that includes everything you need to create your own Brooch Bouquet.  if you would like the opportunity to design your bouquet drop us an email at kschool@ireland.com and we can send you on details of all your different options
