How to create a Glamelia Lilly Bouquet

Alternative Wedding Bouquet

Popular in the 1940's, Glamelia Wedding bouquets are a glamorous option for brides looking for a vintage style bouquet.

Here you will see step by step instructions to create a Lilly Glamelia or Composite Bouquet using a very simple easy to use technique.

Ingredients needed to create Glamilia Lilly Bouquet

  • Approx 8-10 open Lilly Heads
  • Glue
  • 22 x 20g x 10’ (26cm x 0.9mm)
  • Florist Tape (Stemtex)
  • CD Disk
  • Fabric Ribbon to decorate the handle

Step 1:   Using florist tape, tape four 20g florist stub wires together side by side.
Repeat 5 times so that you end up with 5 thick supporting wires

Step 2:  Insert two single 20g wires up through the stem of a tight Lilly bud and tape to secure . Tape your 5 supporting taped wires alongside the wire stem and tape all wires together to form a handle

Step 3:  Remove the petals from approximately 10 open Lilly heads.
Individually glue 4-5 petals around the Lilly bud and then glue an extra row of petals around this. (Approx 7-9 more petals)

Step 4:  Using a CD/DVD disc. Glue a row of petals around the center of the hole in the disk. Keep adding extra layers of petals on top on this row, filling in any spaces and working towards the outside of the disc. This will take approximately 5 rows.

Step 5 :  Insert the handle from the original Lilly bud down through the centre of the disc. Glue to secure. If you still see any spaces you can continue to add in extra petals where required.

To finish decorate your handle with fabric ribbon and the rear of the CD disc with a Fabric frill or glue on ivy leaves.

Spray with Chrysal Glory.

The Stunning Sinead O' Brien gives a new meaning to "Thrash the Dress" for our Brooch Bouquet Shoot

Deciding to do something a little different to show case our Brooch Bouquets recently and with the help of the amazing photographer Ger Dunne from Fantastic Photography and our beautiful cousin Sinead O'Brien in the gorgeous setting of Bushy Park we decided we would "thrash" a wedding dress in a more elegant manner.
.

Thankfully it was such a beautiful day and Sinead was as usual up for fun, the water from the waterfall in Bushy park just didn't seem that cold :) or did it ?????

On hand on the day was the fabulous Make Up Artist Tanya Pepper whose makeup skills are second to none and specialises in Bridal Make Ups.

Bridal Bouquet with Brooches

Wedding Bouquets with Brooches

These Heirloom Bridal Bouquets are taking the wedding industry by storm at the moment,  We have seen the demand for our all Brooch Bouquets grow steadily over the past few months and 2013 looks like the year of the Brooch Bouquet,

With many brides traveling away to get married many are choosing to bring their brooch bouquet with them.
But generally it is the sentiment of these Brooch Heirloom Bouquets that have seen them become so popular.

Many Brides coming on our 1-2-1 Brooch Bouquet workshops are now bringing their Mum, Sisters, or Brides maids with them to help in the assembly of the Bouquet, with one bride bringing her teenage daughter to help her make her bouquet that someday will be her heirloom bouquet to use herself.

Brides are also including their own mementos into their bouquet from broken watches, ear rings, wedding rings, photos of relatives who have passed, swats of fabric from their own christening gowns, or their mums wedding gowns and even a secret locket that contains a message to the next owner of the brooch bouquet.

Anything can be included into the Brooch Bouquets and we encourage you to take photos of yourself making the bouquet to include in your wedding album.

Bushy Park Brooch Bouquet Harley Davidson Shoot

Team Kay's recently organised a photo shoot in Bushy Park in Dublin to show off Kay's new collection of alternative bridal bouquets.  Organised at the last minute we enlisted the help of the fabulous Make Up Artist tot he stars Tanya Pepper of Elegant Touch Professional Makeup Artist and Celebrity Hair Stylist Lorraine Whelan to prepare our Models for the day ahead.

Once all our girls were ready we all headed over to Bushy Park, thankfully the weather played an enormous part as the sun glowed the whole day.  Yes we spent the whole day in the park and the crack was 90 :)
A friend of Kay's School,  Paul brought along his pride and joy  Harley Davidson Bike and the girls all got a chance to hop on and do some posing
